AECOM has an exciting opportunity in Afghanistan on the EAGLE Afghanistan contract for a
Safety Coordinator . Assists in the day-to-day safety tasks at the work sites to ensure proper wearing of PPE and adherence to safety policies. Conducts safety inspections of assigned work centers. Assist as necessary in the performance of monthly inspections of all fire extinguishers, emergency fire exits, smoke detectors, on-site equipment as well as maintains documentation of each inspection. Ensures that hoists, jacks, lifts, and cranes utilized at AC FIRST work centers are inspected annually. Understands and assists with ensuring compliance of fire prevention, first aid kit inspections and replenishment. Assists the Hazmat Specialist with the collection, handling, and storage of hazardous materials. Ensure strict compliance to safety practices and support the AC FIRST Safety Policies and Procedures. Instills a safety first mentality within respective work areas and a culture that achieves low accident rates and minimal lost-time injuries. Adhere to ISO Policies, Procedures, and Work Instructions in support of the AC FIRST Quality Management System. Performs other duties as assigned.
High School diploma or equivalent required.
2 years’ experience in the Safety arena required.
Work experience may be substituted for educational requirements and/or educational achievements may be substituted for years of experience. Example: Two (2) years of experience is equivalent to (2) years of college and vice versa.
NACI /Tier 1 for US Citizens and PCC for Non US Citizens
Valid Driver’s license required.
30-HOUR OSHA General Industry or Construction industry certification required.
8 or 24 HAZWOPER Training required.
Must have knowledge of OSHA General Industry standards and regulations required.
Required to understand and use applicable standards and references from such agencies as: National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and others applicable operational activities.
Must have excellent communication skills up and down organizational structure.
Must have good planning, organizational and follow up skills.
Must have intermediate proficiency in MSWord, Excel, and Outlook applications.
Must have the English language speaking ability to speak the language with sufficient structural accuracy and vocabulary to participate effectively in most formal and informal conversations on practical, social, and professional topics. Must be able to read standard newspaper items addressed to the general reader, routine correspondence, reports, and technical materials in the individual’s special field.
Must demonstrate ability to function and coordinate well in a multi-national workforce environment preferred.
