AECOM is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer for a contract supporting the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) with repair and maintenance of Mosul Dam outside of Mosul, Iraq. This project includes providing on-site and reach back construction oversight and support during geotechnical and structural repair efforts at Mosul Dam. AECOM will provide this assistance in the form of high volume grouting, maintenance grouting, and repair of the bottom outlet of Mosul Dam.
This position is for immediate deployment. While the current assignment is scheduled to end in April 2018 under the existing contract, we expect contract extension to be awarded in the future that will extend our site involvement through the end of 2018.
This is a deployed assignment in Iraq. Austere and potentially hostile living conditions and some travel within Iraq, the work site, and the Operating Base is required.
Duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Monitors the drilling and grouting activities to ensure all core samples obtained by contractor are properly documented and stored.
Coordinates with contractor when changes are requested to grouting pressures or mixes.
Verifies drilling records maintained by contractor.
Prepares daily QA reports and notes any contractor deficiencies. Reviews contractor’s QC reports for any discrepancies.
Observes contractor’s QC testing and performs QA testing on samples of grout to ensure contract compliance.
Coordinates with the Sr. Geologist on any unusual or controversial technical issues that arise.
Responsible for basic geological assignments which require the practical application of geological principles, practices, and procedures.
Other duties that may arise.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineer, Geotechnical Engineering, or related
5+ years of experience, including previous work with exploration, grouting, and/or dams
Must read, write, and speak English fluently
Due to the nature of this work, qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test and medical screen
Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required
Registered/licensed Professional Engineer (PE) preferred
Previous experience working in the country of Iraq
Previous experience supporting the US Army Corps of Engineers
Previous experience working overseas, supporting the US military
Current, active security clearance
