Advisor (m/w) Security Risk Management Support to the Stabilization Process

The Security Risk Management Advisor Baghdad works under the direct supervision of the Senior Security Risk Manager – Middle East and the technical supervision of the corporate security department.

Your tasks
Advising the Country Representative and all project staff on all aspects of everyday operational security and risk management, including emergency procedures
Establish and maintain a state-of-the-art security risk management system
Continuous implementation of GIZs minimum security standards, the establishing of hibernation, relocation and evacuation plans and standard operating procedures
Managing daily operational risk management and tasking of security service providers
Analyzing security incidents and collecting and evaluating security related information
Liaising with a wide range of actors (target audience, local and national authorities as well as state and non-state actors, security actors and other development organizations)
Preparing security risk assessments according to ISO 31000, risk analysis, incident reports, weekly and monthly security reports, district profiles, and other documents
Keeping staff members and consultants in the country up-to-date on the security situation and implement directives to safeguard employees
Responsibility for assessing static security and implementing security measures
Establishing trainings related to security risk management and conflict sensitive programming
Advising the Country Security Risk Management Team during crisis situations

Your profile
University degree in Risk or Security Management, Political Science, International Relations, Peace and Conflict Studies or another relevant field
Very good analytical skills, you are a communicator and mediator, perform well under pressure while you manage multiple and overlapping tasks
Excellent advisory skills allow you to explain the relevance of the security risk management to both internal and external stakeholders
You have experience in conducting and facilitating trainings
Several years of professional experience working for a security risk management system in international organizations are required
Several years working experience in a comparable role in Iraq or a similar context
Sound understanding of the security and political context in Iraq
Knowledge of development or humanitarian organizations’ security risk management systems
Good knowledge in communication technologies, positioning systems (SAT/GSM) and Microsoft Office Products is necessary, knowledge in geographical information system programs (Garmin BaseCamp, ARC o. a.) is an advantage
Ability to work autonomously with little guidance and ability to make sound decisions in critical situations
Ability to work in a highly dynamic and challenging environment
Willingness to conduct regular travels across Baghdad and provinces/governorates of Iraq
You are fluent in English; Arabic or German language skills are advantageous
